What We Believe
Founded on steadfast and unmovable faith in God, solidly anchored in God’s Word, Forest Baptist Church through the power of the Holy Spirit, will love Christ our Lord, love each other as ourselves and share our faith with others through fellowship, ministry, worship, discipleship and evangelism.
WE BELIEVE …the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are inspired by God, without error, and they are of supreme and final authority.
WE BELIEVE…in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
WE BELIEVE…that Jesus Christ was begotten by God. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary.
WE BELIEVE…in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He is the life of the believer and He empowers the preaching and teaching of the Gospel.
WE BELIEVE…Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins. We believe that salvation is found by placing our faith in Jesus Christ.
WE BELIEVE…that baptism is a picture and an illustration – a symbolic act. It is not necessary for salvation, but is strongly associated with salvation as it best illustrates our new identity with Jesus Christ.
WE BELIEVE…The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of the church. We observe the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis in remembrance of Jesus Christ atonement for our sins.
WE BELIEVE…each person is able to come to God for himself or herself. There is no need for a third party to tell a person how to pray, how to interpret Scriptures, or how to vote in church.
WE BELIEVE…in the local autonomy of the church. Each church has the right to manage its affairs with no central authority except that of Christ Himself. We are a cooperating church with the Southern Baptist Convention, which means that we cooperate with other Baptist Churches in pooling and sharing money for the support of missionaries and ministries at home and around the world. This plan is called the Cooperative Program.
